A German student, wearing a military uniform, attacked a Jewish student at a Hamburg synagogue with a shovel. Fortunately, security guards who were on hand for the Sukkot party were able to subdue the attacker until police arrived. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, and friends who were with him were traumatized. A police investigation revealed that the perpetrator acted spontaneously and independently but specifically targeting Jews.
